Python Programming

The course takes delegates from language fundamentals to writing production-quality Python: tested, typed, packaged and readable by someone else six months later. Syntax is the easy part and is covered quickly; the emphasis falls on the practices that separate working code from maintainable code.

Everything is taught against Python 3.14, including the features that changed in it. Free-threaded builds, deferred annotation evaluation and template string literals are covered as current practice rather than as novelties, because delegates will encounter them in codebases from now on.

Delegates write code in every session. The final third of the course is applied: automation scripts, data processing, API clients and tested modules, so that delegates leave with working examples rather than exercises.

On certification timing: the current PCEP exam version grants lifetime certification, while the new version arriving later in 2026 expires after eight years. Delegates who want permanent certification should sit the current version before 31 August 2026. Worth noting also that most Python hiring weighs a portfolio of built work more heavily than a certificate, so the two are best pursued together.

Who should attend

Aimed at people who need working Python, whether as their primary language or as a tool alongside another discipline.

  • Developers adding Python to an existing language background
  • DBAs and infrastructure engineers automating operational work
  • Data analysts moving beyond spreadsheets and SQL
  • Testers and QA engineers building automation
  • Career changers entering software development
  • Anyone intending to take the AppSolWorld AI, data engineering or agentic courses

Assumed knowledge: none in Python. General computer literacy and comfort with a command line are helpful. Delegates with prior programming experience in any language will move faster through the first three modules but should not skip them, since Python's object and scoping models differ from most alternatives.
