Oracle Applications and Database Performance Tuning
The course is method-led. Before any tool is introduced, delegates learn the tuning lifecycle and the time model: where is the database spending time, and is that time even the bottleneck? Most wasted tuning effort comes from optimising something that was never the constraint.
Every module works against a deliberately degraded lab database. Delegates are given a symptom rather than a cause — a slow batch window, a report that regressed after a statistics gather, an application timing out under concurrency — and must find it using AWR, ASH and execution plans before they are permitted to change anything.
Because the exam has sixteen topic areas and no published weightings, coverage is deliberately even. Real Application Testing and Database In-Memory receive proper modules rather than a passing mention, since a skipped topic is a genuine risk against the pass threshold.
