Microsoft Azure Architect

Microsoft Azure Architect

Case studies dominate this exam and defeat unprepared candidates regardless of their Azure knowledge. Each presents a long business scenario and requires several interconnected design decisions under time pressure, and practising standalone questions alone reportedly costs candidates ten percentage points or more. Case study technique is therefore taught as a skill in its own right, not left to the mock exam at the end.

Identity and governance receives the heaviest treatment. It is the largest domain and consistently the one candidates underprepare, because Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Policy at enterprise scale are genuinely complex and rarely encountered in full by administrators working on a single subscription.

Microsoft's own reference architectures are used as course material throughout. They function as an unofficial exam blueprint, and delegates who can recognise a reference pattern in a case study answer faster and more accurately than those reasoning from first principles.

Cost appears in nearly every case study. Delegates learn to treat cost-effectiveness as a design constraint present in every decision rather than a separate topic examined once.

Who should attend

Aimed at practitioners who will design Azure solutions and defend those designs to stakeholders.

  • Azure administrators moving into architecture
  • Solution architects adding Azure to an existing cloud background
  • Infrastructure leads responsible for landing zone design
  • Senior engineers making informal architecture decisions already
  • Consultants and pre-sales staff needing defensible Azure knowledge
  • Delegates building toward multicloud capability

Assumed knowledge: substantial hands-on Azure administration covering compute, networking, storage and identity. Microsoft positions this at expert level and suggests two to three years of deep Azure experience. Delegates must hold an active AZ-104 certification to receive the Solutions Architect Expert credential; those without it should discuss sequencing with us before booking, since an expired AZ-104 does not satisfy the requirement.

Delivery
