Full-Stack Web Development (React, Node.js)

Full-Stack Web Development (React, Node.js)

The client and server boundary is the organising idea of this course. In current React, deciding what renders on the server and what ships to the browser is a per-component choice with real consequences for bundle size, latency and cost. Delegates learn to make that decision deliberately rather than defaulting everything to the client out of habit.

The compiler changes how code should be written, and the course reflects that. Delegates learn to write plain, readable logic and let the build step optimise it, which is a genuine mental adjustment for anyone who learned React in the memoisation era. Manual optimisation is covered so delegates can read existing codebases, but it is taught as legacy technique.

Node and the API layer receive equal weight. Data modelling, authentication, validation and error handling determine whether an application survives contact with real users, and no amount of frontend polish compensates for a badly designed API.

Delegates ship a complete application: authenticated, database-backed, tested and deployed, with a repository that stands up to an employer looking at it.

Who should attend

Aimed at people who will build and ship web applications end to end.

  • Frontend developers extending into backend work
  • Backend developers taking on interface responsibility
  • Developers on older stacks modernising their skills
  • Career changers building toward a first development role
  • Technical founders building their own product
  • Consultants delivering web applications for clients
  • Teams maintaining legacy React that needs bringing current

Assumed knowledge: working JavaScript including functions, objects, arrays and asynchronous code. HTML and CSS familiarity. Prior React experience is not required, and delegates arriving with older React habits should expect to unlearn some of them. No backend experience is assumed.
