AWS Solutions Architect

AWS Solutions Architect

The exam is scenario-based throughout. Questions describe a business requirement and offer four architectures that would all technically work, asking which best meets the stated constraint. Memorising service features does not answer those questions; understanding trade-offs does. The course is built accordingly.

The Well-Architected Framework provides the spine. Its pillars map almost directly onto the exam domains, and thinking in those terms is what allows a candidate to eliminate three plausible answers quickly under time pressure.

Delegates build in their own AWS account throughout: VPCs, load-balanced applications, IAM policies that deliberately fail before they work, and cost-optimised storage tiers. Study time is weighted towards security and networking, since those carry the most marks and cause the most failures.

Who should attend

Aimed at practitioners who will design workloads on AWS, not only operate them.

  • Infrastructure and systems engineers moving to cloud
  • Solution architects adding AWS to an existing cloud background
  • Developers taking on architecture responsibility
  • DBAs and operations staff supporting AWS-hosted estates
  • Consultants and pre-sales staff needing defensible AWS knowledge
  • Delegates building toward multicloud capability

Assumed knowledge: general IT infrastructure familiarity including networking fundamentals, operating systems and storage concepts. AWS designs this exam for candidates with around a year of hands-on experience designing distributed systems on AWS; this course compresses that requirement through structured lab work, but delegates entirely new to infrastructure should expect to put in additional practice time.
